There Are Always Rules

The first person to get to the location shown will have the opportunity to uncover an important clue to a real world puzzle, related to The Stone Internet Mystery.

Search in public places

The clue is buried on public property. You will not find it in private areas or properties. You may wish to print off the images, especially those marked with an 'X', in order to eliminate guesswork that may lead you to dig up the wrong spot when you are 'in the field'.

Do not bring a shovel or metal detector

The clue is buried less than 3 inches (8 cm) below the surface. You will not need a shovel, as a nearby stick should be sufficient for this excavation. It is said that a pair of work-gloves may come in handy. The location is marked clearly in these images, so please do not dig up any areas other than this exact spot.

Follow instructions found with the buried clue

When you find the clue, you will have all the information necessary to collect your prize. After you return with your clue, you are invited to share the message with the Playing Community, as each clue will someday be a part of something greater.

Bring a camera

It is a rule that you must take photos of your find. Players around the globe will be interested in seeing your discovery.
In fact, Stone players have established camaraderie unlike any other on the net. They share their clues and insights on a daily basis, and that cooperative strategy is vital to success within the game.

Should you discover the buried clue, and you are not a currently Stone player, you may enter the game immediately as you will be awarded an additional prize: a Stone necklace.

While the prize will be yours, sharing the ?data? that is found on the clue will earn you admiration and limitless help on the puzzles of the Stone (perhaps a cooler prize in the long run).
