What are the uses of Cannabis Concentrates?

The Many Uses of Cannabis Concentrates

Cannabis concentrates are popular among cannabis enthusiasts, as they offer a variety of benefits. Cannabis concentrates come in many different forms and consistencies including shatter, wax, live resin, butane hash oil (BHO), CO2 oils and more.  They can be consumed by smoking or vaporizing them. Some people prefer to use cannabis concentrates because they believe that it is healthier than smoking dried flower buds which contain high levels of plant matter and lower concentrations of cannabinoids like THC and CBD. Others find that using cannabis extracts produces a stronger effect when compared to the effects produced from consuming dried flower buds alone.  The type of concentrate you choose will depend on your personal preferences as well as what you’re looking for in terms of health benefits.

What is the cannabis concentrate used for?

There are a variety of cannabis concentrates available on the market, including cannabis resin, hashish and oils. These cannabis products are also known as cannabis extracts and/or cannabis edibles. Cannabis concentrate products are produced through the use of a solvent, usually butane or hexane, applied to cannabis flowers. The resulting cannabis resin is then compressed into various forms including hashish and cannabis oil. Cannabis resin: refers to dried cannabis flowers that have been treated with solvents such as ethanol to extract the cannabinoids (THC and CBD). The resulting product is commonly called hash or hash oil . It may be smoked, vaporized or ingested in foods cooked with cannabis oil . Resin can contain very high amounts of THC (up to 90%) compared to cannabis flower. There is higher potential for adverse effects when smoking or ingesting cannabis resin than there is consuming cannabis flower. Hashish: Cannabis resin that has been compressed into a solid lump, usually sticky with resinous crystals on the surface. Like cannabis resin, hashish can be smoked, vaporized or ingested in foods cooked with cannabis oil . It is also sometimes eaten raw. Cannabis oils : cannabis concentrates made by extracting cannabis resin with a solvent such as butane or hexane. The resulting product may also be called Cannabis oil . Cannabis oil is used in e-cigarettes and some edibles; it is not intended to be smoked or vaporized like other cannabis concentrates because it contains large amounts of potentially harmful chemicals from the chemical solvent used to create it.

Don’t Overdue it with Concentrates!

As with anything, there may be Health risks linked to cannabis concentrates. Some may include: – adverse reactions or harmful effects from consuming concentrated cannabinoid products that contain an unexpectedly large amount of THC; – exposure to solvents like butane or hexane during extraction (e.g., potential fire risk); – accidentally ingesting cannabis oil because it is mistaken for an edible cannabis product; and – cannabis concentrate products with higher concentrations of THC being diverted to the illicit market. As with any medicinal product, use wisely.

DID YOU KNOW?

Cannabis concentrates are a type of cannabis product made by dissolving marijuana in a solvent, most commonly butane or carbon dioxide. The solvent strips the desired molecules from the marijuana plant leaving behind a sticky oil that is rich with THC, CBD and other cannabinoids. In addition to their potency, these products provide an economical way to take medicinal extracts.

There are several types of Cannabis Concentrates, one example being BHO, or Butane Hash Oil. The name says it all- BHO is made by using butane as a solvent to strip THC molecules from the plant. Once collected in an extraction tube, the liquid compound is left to dry into a sticky oil that can then be vaporized or smoked.

Another type is rosin, which uses heat and pressure to turn cured products into a hash-like oil with high THC levels. Other types of concentrates include ice water hash and solventless waxes like kief and sugar.
