The Different Kinds of Cannabis Oil and their Benefits (Part 1)

There are different kinds of Cannabis Oil that have similar and different various benefits. These include Hemp Seed Oil, CBD Oil, THC Oil, and Oils that have a combination of CBD and THC.

Hemp Seed Oil

Hemp Seed Oil is Cannabis Oil that comes from Hemp Cannabis. While it contains little to no Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the active ingredient in Cannabis or Marijuana, it also does not contain any Cannabidiol (CBD) and should not be confused with CBD Oil.

Some of the medical benefits of Cannabis Oil like Hemp Seed Oil have not been proven by clinical research. Those benefits can range from improving acne conditions, treating cancer, or slowing down the progression of Alzheimer’s and Heart Disease.

There is suggestive data that Cannabis oil may also help with specific health issues, including inflammation and skin conditions. The main reason for this is theorized as Cannabis Oil contains polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) which includes omega-3s and omega-6s. Such fatty acids are normaly procured from our food for essential to normal bodily functions. Hemp Seed Oil contains omega-3 and omega-6 at a 3:1 ratio which is ideal for these conditions.

A study in 2011 found that including omega-3s in your diet like those that are in Hemp Seed Oil are able to reduce inflammation. Inflammation contributes to diseases such as heart disease and cancer.

A 2014 study concluded that Hemp Seed Oil is potently effective against acne, but stated that further clinical trials are needed to fine-tune the research on its benefits against acne.

In 2005, a 20-week long study concluded that consuming dietary Hemp Seed Oil improves Eczema symptoms.

In 2015, a study indicated its benefits for the treatment of Psoriasis and suggested the oil should be used in combination with UVB phototherapy, topical vitamin D, and oral retinoids.

An article from 2014 suggested that Cannabis Oil is useful for treating Lichen Planus which is an inflammatory skin condition.

A study in 2011 found that the Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA) in Hemp Oil assists in the production of prostaglandin E1 (PGE1). This is useful for women dealing with premenstrual syndrome (PMS) which is caused by a sensitivity to a hormone called prolactin.

A study in 2010 found that hemp seed can assist in protecting against complications that can happen due to a woman going through menopause, and is likely because of the high levels of GLA in Cannabis hemp oil. However, this study was only performed on rats.

Hemp Seed Oil can also be used as an antibacterial agent against various types of bacteria and inhibits their growth, according to a 2017 study. One of the bacteria that Hemp Oil is able to combat is Staphylococcus aureus which is dangerous and can cause pneumonia and, skin, heart valve, and bone infections.

CBD Oil

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of 100 chemical compounds found in the cannabis plant, with especially high amounts found in Hemp Cannabis. Unlike the THC found in Marijuana Cannabis, CBD is not psychoactive and will not get you high or “Stoned”. CBD Oil offers a potent form of pain relief by interacting and binding with your body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS). These are neurotransmitters that bind to your nervous system’s receptors that your body uses for various functions such as appetite, sleep, and pain and immune system response.

CBD Oil may help reduce even chronic pain and reduce inflammation by interacting with your body’s neurotransmitters, including reduced pain response to surgical incision. A separate study also found that taking CBD orally such as CBD Oil significantly reduces sciatic nerve pain and inflammation.

There have been several studies done on humans that showed a combination of THC and CBD is an effective pain relief treatment for arthritis and multiple sclerosis, including rheumatoid arthritis. There is an oral spray named Sativex that has been approved in several countries to relieve pain related to multiple sclerosis. Sativex contains both CBD and THC.

CBD Oil is an approved treatment for epilepsy disorder. One study found that CBD Oil reduced epileptic seizures by an average of 36.5%. Another study found that CBD Oil significantly reduces seizure activity in children who have Dravet Syndrome. However, it’s important to note that some people in these two studies experienced adverse reactions associated with CBD treatment including fatigue, fever, and convulsions.

Studies have shown that CBD is also an effective treatment for common mental health disorders such as depression and anxiety without the harmful side effects of pharmaceutical medications. Also without the addictive properties of medications such as benzodiazepines that can lead to substance abuse. These treatment effects are due to how CBD interacts with the brain receptors for a neurotransmitter called serotonin that regulated your body’s social and mood behaviors.
